Something lovely has landed in the heart of the city. The Market Folk pop up store is now open at Post Office Square, right in the middle of the Brisbane CBD, and it is filled with the work of 26 Queensland and Australian makers we adore.

Think of it as a little pocket of the markets you already love, tucked into your work day. Handmade ceramics, jewellery you will want to wear straight out the door, candles, art, homewares, pieces for the little ones and treats for the dog. All of it made by independent makers, with a story behind every piece.

It is a boutique, curated space, so it is easy to wander, easy to fall for something, and easy to duck in on a lunch break or on your way past.

Every piece in the shop is made by hand by one of these wonderful makers. Give them a follow, and come and see their work in person.

Ceramics and pottery

• Bec English Ceramics (@becenglish_ceramics). Small-batch stoneware handmade in Bec's Red Hill studio, made for everyday use with tactile finishes and real handmade character. Bec also takes on custom commissions.
• MarNic Pottery (@marnicpottery). Handmade ceramics by Nicola, each piece shaped and finished by hand for the home and table.
• MissEPottery (@missepottery). Small-batch stoneware thrown and hand-finished in Brisbane, with playful, nature-inspired pieces like whale platters and cockatoo bowls.
• Trout Ceramics (@trout_ceramics). Juliet van Oirschot hand-builds thoughtful, practical pieces full of colour and texture in her Gold Coast studio, each one unique.
• Minimud (@minimud.pottery). Handmade ceramics from Brisbane maker Belinda.

Jewellery and accessories

• Two Clay Hearts (@twoclayhearts). Pastel polymer clay earrings, designed and handmade by Hayley in Brisbane. Playful, lightweight and nickel-free.
• YUGEN LOVE (@yugenlove_). Brisbane designer Marguerite handcrafts small-batch pieces in gold vermeil, pearl, shell and semi-precious stones, alongside her own wearable ceramics.
• Marianne Jewellery (@marianne.jewellery). Fatya Hutchinson's fine jewellery label, with heirloom pieces from gold vermeil to 14k solid gold, diamonds and freshwater pearls.
• Stone Tree Collection (@stonetreecollection). Handmade crystal and aromatherapy jewellery from Dominique, just north of Brisbane, including hand-wrapped crystal rings and calming everyday pieces.
• Bugs & Beads (@bugsandbeads). Entomologist Vivian's love letter to the insect world, with hand-painted spider studs, beetle dangles and detailed enamel pins of native bugs.
• Àls the label (@als.thelabel). Ocean-inspired, waterproof and hypoallergenic jewellery designed between Australia and Greece by Marianna, made for everyday wear.
• MeganGaea (@_megangaea_). Megan's Brisbane studio, where every handbag and accessory is individually sewn from carefully chosen, often reclaimed fabrics. No two are quite the same.
• Roots and Wings Co. A handmade jewellery label joining the line-up. Drop by to discover the collection in person.

Candles and fragrance

• Flerre (@flerreofficial). A Brisbane candle and gifting studio with hand-poured soy candles, room sprays, body and perfume oils, and beautifully curated gift boxes.
• Artisan Statement. Small-batch, hand-poured candles made to bring warmth and a little character to your space.
• Iahn & Co. Independent candle maker Jordy, with candles made to bring a little warmth and glow to your space.

Homewares, furniture and botanicals

• Bloom Botanics (@bloombotanicsbrisbane). A Brisbane florist and gift studio bringing a fresh, botanical touch to homewares and gifting.
• bmpwoodworkshop (@bmp_wood_workshop). Benjamin's home-based Brisbane workshop, handcrafting furniture and homewares from timber and epoxy, alongside smaller treasures like boards and earrings.
• Bloss & Bec (@blossandbec). Beautiful table linen, designed in Australia and sewn locally using natural fibres and eco-friendly inks, stitched by a social enterprise supporting women.
• Zoru Collection (@zoru.collection). An independent Queensland maker with a handmade collection to explore in store.
• Taybella Crafters. Handmade homewares and furniture pieces for the home.

Art and prints

• Thea-Bella Taylor Art (@theabellataylorart). A young Brisbane artist whose detailed paintings celebrate Australian wildlife, as originals, limited-edition prints, art cards and linen tea towels.

Fashion

• Alfie & Alice (@alfie.and.alice). A Brisbane label making bright, bold, handmade clothing for kids and women, often using prints by Australian artists. Founder Katie sews every piece herself.

For the little ones

• Little Change Creators (@littlechangecreators). A Brisbane social enterprise reimagining screen-free play with reusable silicone colouring sets that wipe clean and last for years.

For your pets

• wil & essie (@wilandessie). A Brisbane pet boutique handmaking clothing, bedding, collars, harnesses and accessories for dogs and cats, each piece sewn with care by Karina.

Games and connection

• Yarning, by The Keepsake Project (@keepsakeproject.co). A connection card game from a Brisbane storytelling company that is proudly 50% Aboriginal owned. 118 questions that swap small talk for real talk.
