We are thrilled to announce that The Market Folk was recently accepted into Brisbane City Council’s Sponsorship for local business precinct promotion and activation program! We will be bringing a whole new level of market fun to two fantastic lifestyle precincts this Spring/Summer.
We have chosen Everton Plaza a brand new location and the ongoing expansion of Fish Lane markets to be included in this initiative to build precinct buzz and boost local business.
The two markets will be opportunities for Brisbane residents to support local creatives and entrepreneurs, dining establishments and experience exclusive lifestyle events, all in one place.
The two targeted precincts, located in Everton Park and South Brisbane, are up-and-coming hubs showcasing creativity, artistic talent and entrepreneurial spirit. The Market Folk markets are a perfect complement to these precincts, drawing attention to their celebration of local talent and small businesses.
Our regular markets at Gasworks and Coorparoo boost local business’ trade on a monthly basis and increase consumer traffic through the precincts, creating a vibrant social hub in Brisbane’s inner-city suburbs. Pop-up markets at Fish Lane, Portside and South City Square have seen similar results, offering exclusive events to generate local interest and introduce an influx of new customers to the precincts’ retailers.
The Everton Park market on November 27 will be held in the suburb’s developing food and lifestyle precinct, Everton Plaza. The precinct is home to a number of popular meeting spots, including restaurants, cafés and food retailers. The area provides the perfect setting for the market; the cobblestone laneway and friendly local traders transport customers right back to the suburbs, giving the precinct the authentic local feel that sets Brisbane apart.
The Fish Lane market on December 19 builds on the smaller version of popular pop-up markets that The Market Folk have previously hosted in the laneway. With the support of Brisbane City Council it has allowed the market to grow into a one-off street market, with the larger size meaning an even bigger stall selection for market-goers to browse, and more opportunity for local businesses to be involved.
Perfectly timed, being the weekend before Christmas, the Fish Lane market will be an opportunity for some last-minute present shopping and will provide a magical festive experience for the community.
These markets offer family-friendly fun and an opportunity for local communities to come together to activate these emerging precincts. They celebrate local lifestyle and community, and provide a great opportunity to engage with small businesses and creatives.
The Market Folk has built a carefully curated selection of Brisbane-based creatives and entrepreneurs, growing their markets over the past five years into colourful, popular events that add a fresh splash of life to any precinct in which they operate.
